We’ve had a beautiful bird singing in the trees behind our house since springtime. Actually I’m pretty sure there were two of them. I have a feeling that they built a nest and most likely had some babies. Hard to tell because the trees are massive liquidambars and their nest would be way up out of sight.

Their song was hypnotic! Having grown up in a house that backed onto a bird sanctuary when I was younger, I’m familiar with a lot of the birds native to Sydney, but this particular bird’s call was new to my ears. After a bit of investigation I think they could have been honey eaters.

They disappeared during the bushfire drama (or maybe they stopped singing) but I noticed they were back again the other day. Bird songs bring me so much joy….

Just like birds we all have a song to sing….but some people just haven’t found their voice yet……

This is something I am very passionate about….helping others to reconnect to the song that lives deep inside them…..of course I’ve had the opportunity to help develop and unlock physical voices through 20 years of voice teaching…..but this next part of my journey is more of a holistic mission.

I’m so excited about a wonderful event that I will be speaking and singing at, on Sat Feb 8. The lovely ladies at Northside church have invited me to come and share a message to start off their year.

I’ll be speaking about “Creativity and connection: mindfulness for the new year”. My intention is to inspire the women to connect with their inner selves through creativity. We’re actually going to be making an artwork & I will be sharing my soul stirrings and heart reflections through spoken words, songs and art.

It’s open to ALL women (you don’t have to be a church goer) and registration includes a yummy breakfast as well.
