The Symbolism of Flannel Flowers

‘The Flannel Flowers have been so abundant this summer, playing their way through the season like a beautiful symphony.’ Flannel flowers, with their distinctive soft, fuzzy petals, carry a symbolism that is as gentle and appealing as their appearance. Native to Australia, these beautiful flowers are not only admired for their unique beauty but also imbued with various layers of meaning. Here are some of the symbolic interpretations associated with flannel flowers:

Unfolding of a New Season

It’s the first day of Spring here in Australia.

After what has seemed like a long and rainy winter, our hearts are rejoicing in the promise of warmer days and the myriad of flowers starting to bloom🌸

Magnolias are one of my favourite flowers partly because they bravely start flowering in winter, heralding the new season..but also because of the way they gently unfold.

Prompting me to consider…the intention deep in my soul that is also gently unfolding.

Gratitude… daily gratitude

Storm out to sea

This was the view I was greeted with on my walk this morning, still so humid from the rain last night and the early morning storm. I love watching storms and the menacing clouds that accompany them, but my family will attest that sometimes, the ‘boom, crash opera’ causes me anxiety.

Colour and joy in the midst of trying times...

There’s always a little spot on my morning walk where I have to stop and take photos. I’m in love with gum blossoms, even when they are incubating these divine flowers. But it’s like the flowers knew that we all needed a bit of cheering up after the past 3 months of catastrophic fires, extreme heat and drought here in Australia. These particular gums have just exploded into flower and the rainbow lorikeets are rejoicing!
